Dr. Patti Appointed as Chief Medical Officer of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education
Dr. Patti has been appointed as Chief Medical Officer of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (GA CORE). In her role she will contribute her expertise in clinical care, protocol development, and advocacy for patients of all ages throughout the state. She will work with a dynamic Board of Directors and staff of GA CORE to improve the complete experience for those affected by cancer.

Dr. Patti has been named a Tri-Chair of the Survivorship Working Group of the Georgia Cancer Control Consortium. Other tri-chairs are Katreena Davis, MPH, Senior Manager of Events and Programs of Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education, and Poorja Mishra, MBA, MHA, FACHE, Vice President Oncology and Sickle Cell Service Line at Grady Health System.

November 25, 2024, was our 4th birthday. The occasion honors our patients, colleagues at Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education, the Georgia Cancer Control Consortium, WellStar Health Systems, and Nemours Children's Center. Thanks to all of you, the tree in the hand of a child (our logo) is growing ripe fruit.
Focus on Trisomy 18
Trisomy 18 is the second most common autosomal numerical chromosomal disorder, having an incidence of 15 per 100,000 live births. Historically only about 10 percent of affected babies survive past their first birthday.
Vital Pediatrics for Complex Kids, LLC has cared for 7 babies with Trisomy 18 in a 2 1/2 year period.
Dr. Patti to Serve on Survivorship Working Group of the Georgia Cancer Control Consortium
Dr. Patti has been invited to serve on the Survivorship Working Group of the Georgia Cancer Control Consortium. This group of survivorship experts in the state will develop guidelines to benefit survivors and their families over the next 5 years.
Patti's Place: Vital Pediatrics for Complex Kids, LLC, Selected as a "Promising practice spotlight" by the American Academy of Pediatrics
Patti's Place: Vital Pediatrics for Complex Kids, LLC has been selected by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a "Promising Practice Spotlight" for telehealth. This honor highlights practices that offer replicable strategies that pediatric clinicians can implement within delivery of telehealth care. It is part of an AAP grant, "Supporting Providers and Families to Access Telehealth and Distant Care Services in Pediatric Care".
Expanding Access to Pediatric Palliative Care
One practice leveraged telehealth to expand access to pediatric palliative care services across their state. Patients and families/caregivers across an entire state are now able to access this subspecialty care, even those who previously did not live geographically close to a tertiary care center.
